Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
one odd afternoon, i noticed this window sitting on this pink wall in my house’s bathroom. for some strange reason, there were twigs, leaves and dirt scattered on this hollow space just behind a dusty screen that covered the jalousies on this particular window. i was baffled about this finding. it amused me somehow.. but then i ignored the thought and just went on with my bathroom mission (and that was to pee).
earlier today, my mother shared a story to me and to my older brother about this preposterous happening. actually, she said, two birds were building a nest on this bathroom window. they were probably preparing for the coming of their offspring or some sort. they managed to get the leaves in by tapping continuously on the half-open jalousies. surely, my mother felt sorry for the bird (‘cause imagine tapping your own mouth to get a window open.. tiring and frustrating) but it was just unacceptable. imagine a family of birds singing on your bathroom window while you’re doing number 2… that would be weird. or imagine some worms crawling down the bathroom walls cause the mother had to bring them in to feed her offspring… again.. that would be weird.. and it would be quite disturbing too. so my mum closed the jalousies tightly and she cleaned the mess the birds created.
so why the heck am i telling you all this? ‘cause i realized something. somehow, people are like those birds. they plan and plan and plan; then they build and build and build; not even minding if they’re already tapping on someone else’s window, violating their property, or disturbing someone’s mother so she would feel pity and thus cause her distraction from her household duties. in short, people tend to step on others, burden others and disturb others just to get their plans accomplished.
and i just wonder.. why can’t those people find a tree to build their nests on?
